West of Old Saybrook, the shoreline opens up into quiet beach neighborhoods in Westbrook and Clinton, with one of the state’s best-loved parks just next door in Madison.
Hammonasset Beach State Park
Hammonasset Beach State Park is Connecticut’s largest shoreline park, with roughly two miles of beach on Long Island Sound across more than 900 acres. There is plenty of room to spread out even on busy days, plus picnic areas, trails and a large campground.
Don’t miss the Meigs Point Nature Center at the eastern end of the park, with hands-on exhibits and live animals that make it a hit with kids.
Westbrook
Westbrook is a small, relaxed town with beach neighborhoods, a busy small-boat harbor and a laid-back summer feel. Some of our homes here sit right on the sand, so the beach day starts at the back door.
Clinton
Clinton offers its own town beach and harbor, plus Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets, a good plan B for a rainy afternoon.
Westbrook, Clinton & Old Saybrook homes
Homes on the sand and private beach access along the shore.
Make it a shoreline trip
From here, Old Saybrook’s Main Street and Saybrook Point are a short drive east, and Old Lyme’s art museums are just across the Connecticut River.
